When Should Wisdom Teeth be Removed?

Posted .

What sounds like fun to you? A birthday party? Visiting a theme park? Eating a meal with a friend? How about having teeth pulled? Wisdom teeth removal isn’t most people’s idea of an exciting time, even less so if they’re in their elder years. When people get older, their wisdom teeth roots grow longer and become more difficult to extricate.

For this reason, we endorse that patients who need to have their wisdom teeth removed do so between the ages of 15 and 25. While it’s true that some people never have wisdom teeth removed and live healthy lives, impacted wisdom teeth can do major destruction if they’re not pulled.

For instance, abscesses, cysts, tumors and infections may form surrounding the area of the impacted wisdom teeth, and if the teeth try to emerge, they may cause misalignment and harm to the other molars. If you’re thinking about having your wisdom teeth removed, and even if you’re older than 25, please get in contact with us and we’d be ecstatic to work with you.
